31 DAYS JOURNALING CHALLENGE (COMPLETED)
I used to journal when I was younger. Little things here and there, nothing every substantial. Occasionally, I’d pick it up again once in awhile, but nothing super consistent.
So for the short times I did journal in the past, I really enjoyed it. I think it’s a great tool for reflection and to release stress. I don’t know about you, but during this pandemic, being quarantined, listening to the news about the crazy things happening around the world…my head is just so overwhelmed. I feel like my anxiety has gone through the roof the past couple of months and I really need an outlet to make my brain feel a little more at peace.
I’ve seen a couple of people I follow on different social media platforms journaling daily & they talk about how that process has really helped them. So I started looking into benefits of journaling. Let me share with you some of the things I’ve found:
It can improve immune function
Keeps your thoughts organize and your memory sharp
As journaling habits develops, you increase your overall emotional health
Reduces stress and anxiety
So it seems like from what I’ve read and directly from others who do journal on the daily basis, that there are definite pros to it. So with that I want to start journaling (and hopefully develop a habit) & inviting you along on this ride with me!
I’ve been told over and over again that a habit forms after about 21 days. So to help develop this habit, this particular challenge will last for 31 days (month of October).
The challenge
It’s really simple: we are going to journal together for 31 days.
When do we do it? For me, I want to start a morning journaling habit - I’m going to wake up extra early and spend some time to writing. For you, it’s up to you when you feel like it would be a good time for you to do it! I say pick a time where you will make that effort to actually write.
When does it start? October 1, 2020.
How long will these posts be? Again, that will be completely up to you. It can be really short, it can be paragraphs long. It can be dependant on the day. This is going to be personal to you.
What do I write about? So for this challenge, 31 days long, I’ll be providing you with daily prompts to guide your journaling. I’ll be sending out a weekly email/newsletter with the prompts for the week and I’ll also be posting it on instagram (@thesprinkleoflight) daily. This way you’ll have something to help you think and focus on something to journal about that particular day. Some of these prompts will be easy and some will be more deep & reflective!
I am really really excited to be starting this challenge with you all! I want to hear ALL about your progress - what’s been easy, what’s hard, which prompts you like, all of that as you’re going through this journey with me. So share your pictures, use the hashtag #sprinklejournalchallenge to join this tribe of people who will be journaling along!
If you haven’t followed the blog’s instagram page, please do so you can see the daily prompts I’ll be posting on my story!
